The future as predicted by JP Rizal

essay : "Ang kabataan ay ang pag-asa ng bayan" (The youth is the future of the country), goes the famous saying by Dr. Jose RIzal. I believe this is true. It is vey simple actually. If the youth is not the future, then who is? The countries and its cultures are being passed from generation to genaration. That's the way is has always been and I think that is the way it will ever be. It is only a matter of time before the youth become adults and take control over the country. It's a never-ending cycle. Rizal did not predict anything, he just uttered a statement of fact. Rizal, however, wanted the youth to be catalysts for change. He wanted a better future for the country. What the youth believes in is very crucial because it will dictate their future actions. Their fuure actions will determine the future of the country. Rizal was trying to spark the patriotism of the youth so that their mentality will be pro-country and not pro-self. He is reminding the youth of their social responsibility towards their fellow countrymen.
And I think Rizal did a very good job at this. The events that transpired after his death surely reflects the patirotism that the youth of Rizal's time treasured. However, I think we need another Rizal during this present time. We need to have a moral obligation. And I want to be a part of it.
