Worthy Popularity: An Argument of the Society

essay :

There are only two things which could make an icon sensational. Just change the initial letters: fame and shame, Only two of those things, no more in between.

Today's generation is undeniably governed by powerful influences, to which is dominated by the mass media. I personally think that Britney, Lindsay, and Miley have three things in common which helped them to be popular: First is versatility. All of them can act, dance, sing, and do things which are absolutely a big advantage for a showbiz career. Second is on the level of frequency. These icons have been repetitively showing on the television may it be in music videos, movie promotions, and commercial endorsements, that makes people be familiarize with them effortlessly. Lastly, it is about the influence of novelty and issues. Lindsay Lohan was involved in an anorexia issue and Britney Spears in a nudity-drunken rebel pictures. On a good light, Miley Cyrus has her own music video topping the charts.

This only goes to show that people's sensationalism, whether positive or negative, greatly affects in their roster for popularity.

It is indeed very rare for a Hollywood icon to be golden at heart. Aside from Oprah Winfrey, Ellen Degeneres, and Tyra Banks, Angelina Jolie has earned my high respect as a role model. Her adoption of children shows that she is using the gift of fame and fortune into a return of something good. Although involved in a drug issue by which her name was dragged along because of attachment to Brad Pitt, I believe that Jolie gains my reputation because she is helping the unfortunate ones as if they are really from her womb. But only I could judge on the turf of the television. I really do not know her real intentions, whether for popularity or showbiz sustainability. Even with the mentioned negative issue tagging along, I think Angelina, should be remembered by the good things she is doing rather than judging her actions from her shortcomings.
