The Best Christmas Gift

Written by Miguela Marie Senga

Christmas is one of the most anticipated seasons of the year. It is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ who is considered as the savior among Christian believers. People often exchange gifts and cards and prepare feasts during this event. In fact, giving and receiving gifts is a major reason why people become so excited of the coming of the Christmas season. Each person has his or her own idea of the perfect gift to give or receive.
To most people, especially kids, material gifts are the best. The latest gadgets, toys, clothes, or even chineseware are just some of the more popular gift ideas being showcased at department stores. These gift are also often the ones that are the easiest to get because they are readily available.
Some people place value on the worth of the gift. A gift that is expensive could be the perfect idea for a person who values the cost of an object. On the other hand, a gift that is personalized and is given particular attention and thought by the giver is considerd to be very important. After all, it is the thought that counts.
People experience joy and fun in giving and receiving gifts. In the flurry of all these activities, religious persons constantly remind that Christmas is not about the material gifts. Material gift is just the icing on the cake. People are challenged to remember that the material gift is just a means to achieve the goal of bringing smiles and happiness to the world. It is a reminder to the people that tha savior was born into human flesh to bring salvation to mankind. The salvation should be the foremost in everyone's mind and not just an afterthought at the end of the day.
Gifts may come in all sizes and in different packages, but they all remind people of the same thing, that is we are all saved. That may just be the best gift of all.
