An Untested Politician: Can Noynoy Face The Nation?

Written by Jester Jan H. Jimenez

Different names are already coming out from different means, letting the country know who is worth placing their one vote for. The Philippines is about to withhold another history-making event next year with high hopes of a successful and progressive nation, which to many, didn't seem possible with the current administration. Noynoy Aquino, the only son of Ninoy and Cory, both great names in the history not only in the Philippines but in the world, is one of the several individuals that are waiting to hold the biggest responsibility in the nation. Does he possess the characteristics of a great leader, despite being the youngest and less-experienced candidates among others?

The Philippines has been looking forward to its progress since Marcos, who once brought it to a level as one of the most promising nations among Asia. I may say that at this point in time, the country is not even near to what it has achieved in the past few centuries. I also believe the country has not reached the productivity level it can attain largely because of many politicians corrupting the people, cutting huge amounts from the pork barrel into their own pockets. Noynoy, in my opinion, does not include himself in this category, as he have been a reputable senator. I also believed that, being the son of Ninoy and Cory, he has seen what his parents faced in their time of living. These may serve as great lessons for him, which in application can create a very-well organized nation. He also has earned a name for himself. He has served a large number of committees being a Congress member. He has been a committee on Agriculture, People's Participatino, Appropriations, Trade and Industry, Natural Resources, and several others. These are only among the many proofs that his character did not only came from being Cory and Ninoy's only politician son, that's why I believe that my one vote will not be wasted this time on him.
